2008 ABBA Northern Alberta Bodybuilding and Provincial Fitness Championships by Asha Belisle The 2008 Northern Alberta Bodybuilding, Provincial Fitness, Masters Figure and Fitness Model competition was a huge success.  A total of 94 athletes (includes crossovers) showed up at the Shoctor Theatre in Edmonton to show off their hard-earned physiques and physical prowess.  Amazingly, the show sold out well ahead of time, and over six hundred anxious fans got to witness one of the largest Northern Alberta events in recent history. Cabel and Wendy McElderry once again put on a spectacular, high class event that went off without a hitch.  ABBA President David Leung along with a panel of highly competent judges allowed for a very smoothly-run show, despite the massive number of participants. This year marked the first ever Fitness Model competition held at an ABBA sanctioned event.  Seventeen ladies got to showcase their beauty in front of a very appreciative audience.  Taking home the award for 2008 Fitness Model of the Year was Calgary's own Kira Forster, a veteran competitor in ABBA fitness events.

We have been attending shows in Alberta since 1991 and have been online since 1999. We have worked closely with the Alberta Bodybuilding Association and were elected in 2002 as the sole source of professional quality stage photography coverage to the ABBA, the top promoters and the competing athletes.

Alberta Bodybuilding gets it's title from being based in Alberta and because all disciplines fall under the genre of "body building". The sport has evolved in the province from Bodybuilding and Fitness to all include Figure and in 2008 Model. David Ford and Fitness FX have successfully held model searches at West Edmonton Mall with the help of various media outlets to garner print opportunities for select competitors, including exposure in Status Fitness, Musclemag, Inside Fitness, VEX, Impact, Edmonton Sun, and other  newspaper publications. David Ford will be holding a Fitness on the Sand Shootout in Vancouver in the summer of 08 for more great print opportunities and will be selecting athletes for various features from time to time at the events he attends and covers.
